New! Dragonships

by Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman

Welcome to the World of Dragonships!

Skylan Ivorson is a sea-raider of the Vindras and eventually becomes the Chief of Chiefs of all Vindras clans, an honor he truly feels he deserves as one who has been blessed by Skoval, the god of war.

But sometimes a blessing is a curse in disguise.

Book 1: Bones of the Dragon

Skoval and the other ancient gods are under siege from a new generation of gods who are challenging them for the powers of creation… and the only way to stop these brash interlopers lies within the mysterious and hidden Five Bones of the Vektan Dragons.

It will be up to the Vindras people, as the dragon-goddess’s champions, to undertake the quest to recover all Five. The fate of the Old Gods and the Vindras rests on their recovery–for this is not only a quest to save the world. It is also a quest for redemption.

Filled with heroes and heroines young and old and exotic adventure in a magic-forged world, this is a series that fully illustrates the mastery of world-building and storytelling that has made Weis and Hickman into the bestselling fantasy co-authors of all time.

Book 2: Secrets of the Dragon will be available in 2010. This will be followed by four additional books in this series.

Hey, Iam a big fan of all your books. Iam from Denmark and I just completed the nr 4 book in series DragonShips. When is nr 5 and 6 out??? :) I can´t wait to read the end. Please release a date. And i don´t hope 5 and 6 is dropped. I will buy the English version of 1-6 when 5 is out, because it take some time to translate it to danish version.

  2. It says in the “About the Authors” section in Rage of the Dragon that Book 4 will be the final Dragonships Novel. Is that correct and if so why was Book 5 & 6 dropped?

  3. R Stetson says:

Just finished Secret of the Dragon What is the next book And when?

  4. I read on the wikipedia article that books 5 and 6 are cancelled. Is this true? Why is that? I love these books and would hate for them to see an early end.

  5. Tomer Klein says:

I can’t wait to see how the Tourgun get out of the predicament at the end of book 2. *Secret of the Dragon. When is the next book coming out on audio? I love all that you all have done and look forward to the works that are still to come. thanks again.

  7. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragonships has updates on the books, and if its accurate the third will be rage of the dragon

    • the 4th one is indeed coming out in April, I’m glad its not a long wait in comparison to some other book sequels. It will be great!

  8. I have read almost of the books that has been published with margaret weis, but i am from Argentina and i prefer to read it in spanish. I hope that a spanish book appears soon, because i really want to read this saga!

I am a BIG fan. I’ve read all of your dragonlance books and the darksword books and when I saw this series I was very excited!! I read the first 2 books and I was hooked again! When will the 3rd be released?

Thanks for all the adventures! I can’t wait for the next.
Also any ideas on turning the original dragonlance series into movies???

  10. You need to get the second book on audio. I can’t seem to find it.

  11. I started reading this series because of Margaret Weiss and was “turned on” to you, Mr. Hickman! Great! Great! Great! Can’t wait for the 3rd book on this as well!!! (Hopefully there will be a third book!!!)

  12. david e. mize says:

any news on the third dragonships book?

  13. Susanna Pankiw says:

I have been a devote reader of your books since I fell in love with the Darksword Triology, many years ago. Your novels line my bookshelves. You definitely did not disappoint with the first 2 books of the Dragonship series. I can not wait for the remaining books.

You have been an inspiration to me, so much so that I have been working for several years on my first fantasy fiction novel…about dragons as well.

  14. could somebody plz tell me what the three book thing is. in the secret of the dragon i dont see anywhere what it could be. help anyone???

  15. I have really enjoyed reading the Dragon Lance and Dragon Ship Series. By chance any update on how book 3 is doing at the editor’s?

  16. Travis Meyer says:

I understand the audio book for Book II: Secret of the Dragon was never released. Are there any plans to remedy this? Will Book III have a similar fate?

  17. I am a long time Dragonlance reader and fan. When I saw that Bones of the Dragon was out I have no idea they had written a new series. I am so glad I picked it up. Both the first and second books are amazing as always. I can’t wait for the third one. I really like the way Skylan is learning about himself and growing with each trial that is put before him. I hope it is not held at the editor’s office for too long. I’m excited for the next saga.

  18. Tracy Hickman and Margaret Weis, I think your books are the best books ever written. I am almost done with the Dragons of the Summer Flame, I have read almost all the DragonLance saga books and I have read the 1st two DragonShips books and I am 14 years old! Belive me you two are my inspiration for like everything I really love the feeling of your books and I can’t wait to read your last 4 books to DragonShips…………Citadel of the Lost seems so awesome I am going to read that one as well. Please write something back, I am your 1# fan! Thanks so much for writing these books!

    • Dragons of Summer Flame is one of the greatest fantasy books written. I got to say though that the follow up trilogy – Lost Souls – was abysmal and for such a hardcore dragonlance fan, very disappointing.

  19. The first book moved so slowly that I almost lost interest in the series. Luckily the second book was much better paced and actually suspenseful and emotional towards the end. I am looking forward to the third in the series.

  20. Petra Goldberg says:

I loved this series so far. I am waiting impatiently for the third to come out. I wish I knew when it was going to be released. Thank you for such an epic fun series, I want to know what is going to happen next.

  21. Really enjoyed the first two books. Any updates on when we can expect the third? Eagerly awaiting!

  22. Book 1 and 2 were utterly amazing, Hickman and Weis definitely showed their skill in this series. Can’t wait for book 3 whenever that is.

  23. Just finished Secret of the Dragon! Awesome! Couldn’t put the book down. The magic of Weis & Hickman is way evident in this series! Can’t wait for the 3rd.

  24. Long time Dragonlance Fan, love those books love all the books you’ve done with Margaret. I love this series just as much and i really can’t wait for book 3…when does it come out?

  25. i just read both books i cant what to see what happen it the next coming books

  26. I loved both books. I can’t wait for the rest of the series, I think they all will be great!

  27. Long time DragonLance reader here. Picked this up when I saw it at the bookstore, hadn’t heard about it but I like vikings so I thought I’d give it a shot. Took me a little while to get used to all of the different gods they keep throwing at you early on, but after that I couldn’t put the book down! Great read, as is the 2nd book. Weis and Hickman have hit another one out of the park. Waiting now on the third, what’s the title going to be? Song of the Dragon maybe?

  28. honest I'm Nuts says:

Seriously I read each in one sitting. I Luv the thend characters . Can’t Wait for the third installment thanks fort a good read.

  29. Saw this on a PA strip and honestly praying to God it wasn’t a real title of a book series. Alas.

  30. Balls Mahoney says:

Just the right amount of dragon.

  31. Assuming not, Skoval is referenced as one of the gods within the text of book one, however, not often- I wondered if perhaps it was a typo myself…

  32. So, in case you didn’t get it:

    DRAGONS!

  33. Penny Arcade brought me here

  34. I feel like I’ve already read Weis/Hickman stories detailing wars between old and new gods with dragons playing an integral role…

  35. omg i freakin luv dragons and ships im gunna bye it

  36. I really haven’t found a book that these 2 collaborated on, that I didn’t like.

  37. The internet will be at your doorstep soon.

  38. hey! let’s see how many times we can include the word ‘dragon’ into our book titles! LOL

  39. i really like the book u write i cant what to read the 2 book of the serie and the 3

  40. Scouring looking for a release date for the third book… did notice that the description (on this site) says “Skoval” and the other ancient gods… I assume, that’s Torval? Was his name originally meant to be Skorval?

  41. Jordan Creel says:

I just finished reading the first two books and am can’t wait for the third. I am just wondering when to expect the third volume. Thank You.

  42. I loved the first two books of this series (Bones of the Dragon, and Secrets of the Dragon, and am wondering when to expect the 3rd volume in the series.
